I’m Nici, the founder of Blue Bear & Co. Blue Bear & Co. was created in memory of my son, Charlie, a way to turn love and loss into a lasting legacy. Each bear is designed to bring comfort and connection.
How did you start your business?
I had support from my family.
How did you choose the name of your business?
Inspired by my sons beloved “Blue Bear.”
Who or what inspires you and your products?
I lost my son Charlie 4 years ago, aged 5 Years old. He continues to be my motivation and my inspiration.
What does a typical working day look like?
Working from home, planning trade shows and fairs like Country Living. I work on my marketing strategy, designing new products, liaising with existing and potential new retailers.
What do you enjoy most about the creative process?
Seeing my vision become a reality, whilst keeping my sons memory alive.
What is your hero product or one that means the most to you and why?
I created our flagship Brown Bear, because I wanted something that would give me and Charlie’s siblings comfort & connection. Our Brown Bear has a soothing heartbeat beat, voice recorder and you can infuse a personal scent on the plushie heart within.
What tip (or tips) would you give anyone looking to start a small creative business?
Believe in yourself and your product. If you are passionate about what you have created this will shine through. Be strategic in the financial decisions, especially in the early stages. Do as much as possible yourself. Willingness to learn.
