My name is Jay, hairstylist and founder of Quimey hair oils. I formulated a natural hair oil treatment using virgin cold pressed base oils and organic essential oils.
How did you start your business?
From home during lockdown I struggled with stress induced hair loss and remember our piling ritual so I researched lighter hair oils and formulated. I started direct to my customers and now we use them in two salons and have a website
How did you choose the name of your business?
Quimey translates to beautiful in Mapuche, a tribe language from South America.
Who or what inspires you and your products?
Born in lockdown, rooted in tradition. My heritage is Indian and we always had a Sunday afternoon hair oiling routine, I have created a hair oil that is suitable for all hair types as I noticed the tradition oils are heavy for Caucasian hair.
What do you enjoy most about the creative process?
I absolutely love the formulating.
What is your hero product or one that means the most to you and why?
Rosemary Dew, as this was my first.
